Why should I choose a prepaid funeral plan?
How can I pay for my funeral plan?
What does my plan include?
What happens if I die before all my instalment payments have been made?
Will my money be secure?
The cost of a funeral is rising, up from an average of £1,920 in 2004 to £4,417 in 2019. Our market analysis suggests this could rise to over £9,500 in 15 years’ time.
Funeral costs can add extra pressure at an already difficult time, with some families having to find extra financial help or compromise on the type of funeral their loved one wanted.
By choosing a funeral plan with Avalon, you can take control of the cost of your funeral and fix essential costs at today’s prices. An Avalon prepaid funeral plan can potentially save you and your loved ones thousands of pounds in the future.
When you buy an Avalon funeral plan, you can pay in a lump sum or with flexible payment options, ensuring you can find a plan that’s affordable for you.
You can spread the cost through regular monthly payments over up to 10 years, depending on your age. Regardless of how much funeral costs rise over that period, your monthly payments will not increase.
And with the Avalon Promise, we can still cover everything that’s included in your plan, even if you pass away before your monthly payments are completed. That means your loved ones won’t have to worry about outstanding payments. Terms and conditions apply.

Your plan guarantees the Funeral Director’s services at no extra cost to you or your next of kin, providing your plan is fully paid and the funeral is carried out by the Funeral Director allocated by Avalon. Your plan also includes an allowance towards the disbursements cost. The Funeral Director and the disbursements allowance are stated on your plan certificate. Your plan will also include any additional services you’ve selected and have made payment for or are making payments for.
If you purchased a plan with a Fixed Monthly Payment (insurance policy) your payments must be up to date and you must have had your plan for a minimum period of 2 years to use the plan.
For extra peace of mind, if you choose to pay for your funeral plan by instalments over two or more years, you can benefit from our Avalon Promise. It means that if you die before all your instalments have been made, Avalon can cover the costs of all the services included in your chosen plan.
If you’ve bought a Standard, Plus or Premium funeral plan, or a Build Your Own plan online, on or after 1st January 2019 in the UK, and you’ve chosen to pay over two years or more, you could benefit from the Avalon Promise. The Avalon Promise comes into effect when your plan has been in place for 12 months, subject to the terms and conditions.
If your plan is not covered by the Avalon Promise and you die before all instalments have been paid, your representative will have two options. They can either pay the outstanding balance before the funeral, or cancel the plan in writing and we will return all payments, less a cancellation fee of £395 for standard plans or £95 for our Cremation Only plan.
