The Avalon Promise means that if you pass away before your funeral plan is fully paid for, you can still get the funeral services included in your Avalon plan.

For example, if you take out a plan over 10 years and pass away during the instalment term with payments still left to pay, we won't ask your family or representative to pay the remaining instalments before the plan can be used.

At Avalon, we don’t cold call or target recently bereaved people. Everyone we speak to has asked for more information about funeral plans.

Highly trained advisors

We have a team of expert advisors who speak to thousands of families every month over the phone, via video calls, and in the comfort of their own homes (dependent on Coronavirus restrictions). They’ll talk you through our funeral plans, making sure you understand the details.

A safe and secure Trust

The money for your funeral plan is kept safe in an independently-held Trust. And as a registered member of the Funeral Planning Authority, Avalon follows strict guidance on how that Trust should be managed.

24-hour bereavement line

Our bereavement phone line is open 24/7 for when your loved ones need us. When the time comes, our support team will set everything in motion for your funeral arrangements.

Local Funeral Directors

Your nominated local Funeral Director will help your family and friends arrange your funeral and take care of you until the day of the service. We visit Funeral Directors in person to make sure that they meet our high standards. Our Funeral Director network has carried out over 12,000 funerals for our customers.

Transparent disbursements contribution

Disbursements are the extra costs of a funeral that aren’t Funeral Director fees. This contribution increases every year with the Consumer Price Index and is there to help cover costs outside of our control, such as the cremation or cemetery fees. Sometimes there may be a shortfall which your family will need to cover – when there's a shortfall on average our families fund an additional £146 for cremation-related disbursements (average paid from July 2017 to June 2018).

After the funeral, our quality assurance team are there to listen to any comments or suggestions from your next of kin. We value your loved ones’ opinions.

Open and honest

We only sell funeral plans. Part of the cost of your plan helps us cover things like team member salaries, our 24-hour bereavement line, marketing our plans on behalf of local, independent Funeral Directors, and managing your plan until you need it.
