Keep safe from scam and speculative phone calls

Avalon is committed to providing you with the best possible experience throughout your journey with us.

We have recently been made aware of a number of speculative phone calls from funeral plan providers who are not registered with the Funeral Planning Authority, who claim to be calling from Avalon or another reputable provider.

These callers will encourage you to move your funeral plan by making false claims, such as that they have taken over or are working in partnership with Avalon, and to make a payment to transfer your plan over to them.

How to spot a fake caller:

  • An Avalon representative will never contact you from a mobile phone number
  • The caller is insistent or aggressive – urging you to act immediately
  • The caller asks for your bank or card details
  • The call asks you to call a different telephone number and cancel your existing funeral plan

If you are ever unsure whether a call from Avalon is genuine, we are always happy to verify the identity of a caller.

If possible, please take the name of the agent you are speaking to and phone number you were called from and hang up. Then call our head office on 0800 014 9112 or 0161 486 2020 and we will be happy to reconnect you to our agent.

If your call was not genuine, we will investigate further as a matter of urgency.
