What Does Brexit Mean For Your Funeral Plan?

Concerned about the effect of Brexit on your funeral plan? Don’t be.

Now the December General Election is concluded, there is now more clarity on the future of Brexit, with the UK set to leave the EU on 31st January 2020.

Since the referendum took place years ago, it has been an important concern for many of our potential and existing customers across Spain, Cyprus and Portugal, who wanted to know that whatever happens with the agreement to leave, their money would be safe and they would remain covered by their Avalon funeral plan whether they stayed in the EU or returned to the UK.

At the time of writing, the terms of the Brexit agreement and the trade ratifications of how UK companies continue to operate in the EU are yet to be disclosed. This has made it difficult to give detailed information about how plans, prices and process may or may not change, and make assurances to new and existing customers alike.

What can we say for certain? Your money is completely safe in our UK-based trust, and you remain covered by your plan in both the EU and UK.

No matter what, your money is safe with us.

Funeral Plans are our passion and our specialism, we are registered with the Funeral Planning Authority, which exists to protect your interests in the UK. Your money is kept in a secure, independent UK Trust, so you can relax knowing that the funds for your funeral plan are protected, whatever happens in the political climate.

We have over 2,000 reviews on Trustpilot and are rated 'Excellent' by our customers. For over 25 years we’ve helped over 70,000 people across Europe feel reassured their funeral is planned and paid for.

If you’re based in an EU Country.

Regardless of the outcome of Brexit, rest assured the features of your plan will remain covered.

Our EU plans provide you with cover in both your chosen country and the UK, so should you pass away in either country, your Avalon plan shall remain valid.

If you selected a Repatriation plan and in the event of a no-deal Brexit, the only change that you would likely face is an increase in processing time between the date of death and repatriation date. Which may mean some delay in RMR (repatriation of mortal remains) services to and from the UK.

Luckily, here at Avalon, we’re the most trusted name in funeral planning for a reason. We have our European offices prepared and ready for all outcomes. With a clear contingency plan in place, we can give you total peace of mind that we’d be able to get you home. We also have strong relationships with key stakeholders and Funeral Directors in the EU and UK, so you don’t need to worry - we’ve got you covered.

Planning to move back to the UK?
