Joanna Lumley, star of the television series Absolutely Fabulous, recently spoke about her final wishes. Her comments have underlined the importance of planning your own funeral and talking to loved ones about your wishes.
Joanna wants to be buried in a cardboard coffin along with the items she plans to take “on the journey for the next bit.”
“I love a cardboard coffin,” she said. “Both Mummy and Daddy went off in cardboard coffins, painted – Daddy’s was rifle green. Beautifully made.”
Looking at death as a journey, Joanna intends to take “some books, some I haven’t finished or haven’t read, some feathers and nice bits and pieces, the odd note.”
With a pre-paid funeral plan from Avalon, you can record your requests and preferences, so you’ll get the send-off you want. Avalon will pass on your funeral wishes to the funeral director when the time comes, so that your friends and family know that everything is just how you would have wanted it.
A pre-paid funeral plan can reduce stress for your family and friends. They won’t have to worry that they’re making the right decisions and, in addition, the funeral director fees will already be paid for – as well as an allowance for disbursements (third-party costs).
You can purchase these plans in full with a single payment, or in monthly instalments.
